Zhenyuan County is in the Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture of Guizhou, 96 kilometers away from the prefecture's capital,KailiCity. It's in the southeastern part of Guizhou, slightly east ofHunan. In 2020, the population of Zhenyuan County was 190,000. Zhenyuan has a history dating back to the Spring and Autumn Period. In the early 20th century, Zhenyuan played a role in the Republic of China revolution. After the People's Liberation Army took Zhenyuan in 1949, the region underwent administrative restructuring, leading to the establishment of the Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture in 1956.
