About Yengo National Park
The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) opened their depot in Bucketty in 1993 and commenced managing Yengo National Park. The course of the Macdonald River flows from the northwest of the national park towards the southeast, where it reaches its confluence with the Hawkesbury River. The park is home to more than 90 different eucalypt species, about 13% of all eucalypt species in the world. Yengo is home to around 50 species of mammals such as wombats, wallaroos, koalas and gliding possums, and over 200 species of birds. Birds sighted include the gang gang, yellow-tailed and glossy black cockatoos, and lyrebird. The endangered brush-tailed rock-wallaby inhabits the steep cliff faces found in the park.
