About Wisconsin
The name Wisconsin means "meeting of the waters" and is of Native American origin. Wisconsin is known nationwide for its dairy heritage, or as "America's Dairyland". The first people arrived around 10,000 BCE during the Wisconsin Glaciation. The first European explorers made their way to Wisconsin in the 1650s and 1660s. Explorers got to the state through the Great Lakes.
