The city was named after the Dewdney Trail, which passed through the area. Employing approximately 1,800 people, Teck Resources (formerly Cominco) is the region’s largest employer. The City of Trail is also home to the largest hospital in the West Kootenay region. Summer climate in Trail is generally hot and dry with moderately cool nights.
