About Surselva

The climate of the region is very cold and snowy in the winter and reasonably warm in the valleys and cold on the mountains in summer. The area has a rare Romansch culture, which includes language, food and drink. The Surselva is a valley of the same name, the region also includes side valleys, the main ones being the Safiental,Val Lumnezia, Val Sumvitg, and Val Lucmagn. The mountain range of Tödi and Bifertenstock, dominates the valley. Tödi is the highest mountain in the area at 3,614m, it is also the highest in the Glarner Alps, as it is on the border between the kantons ofGlarusandGraubünden.
