About Sungai Pinang
Nagari Sungai Pinang (nagariis the local word for village) is in Koto XI Tarusan district, 45 km south of the city centre ofPadang. It is a small fishing village with a population of about 2,000. Most of the inhabitants work as fishermen and women as farmer in the rice fields. The village is between the Indian Ocean coast on the western side, and the Sungai Pinang Conservation Forest on the eastern side, with white sandy beaches along the coast.
