About Shai Hills Resource Reserve
Shai Hills Resource Reserve was proclaimed a Forest Reserve in 1962 with an area of 47km² but was later expanded to 51km² in 1973. Before 1892, it was home to the Shai people until they were sent out later by the British. The works of the Shai people still remain here in the reserve. Baboons, green monkeys, antelopes, zebras, mammals, reptiles and over 172 bird species have been identified in the reserve.
