Santa Catalina has a population of around 300 people and an expat community of about another 50 people. Most of the townspeople speak only Spanish. Credit card usage has become more common among the dive shops and hotels, but not among the restaurants/bars, so be sure to pack enough cash. As of April 2022, contrary to what you might read on the internet, there is an ATM in the town next to the Farmacia.
