About Rock climbing
Rock climbing is different frommountaineering, as the rock climber chooses individual rocks or slopes, and can rest comfortably between the climbs. Partly the same climbing techniques and equipment are used in mountaineering as well as incavingat sections where climbing is needed. The British Mountaineering Council (BMC) is Britain's representative body that exists to protect the freedoms and promote the interests of climbers, hill walkers and mountaineers, including ski-mountaineers. The BMC recognises that climbing, hill walking and mountaineering are activities with a danger of personal injury or death. Participants in these activities should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for their own actions.
