TheRheinburgenweg(Rhine castles trail) runs mainly parallel to the left (west) bank of the river Rhine fromBingento Rolandsbogen south ofBonn. It runs mainly on elevated trails providing along the way excellent views of the UNESCO World Heritage Site valley and the many castles on both sides of the river. The Rheinburgen-Wanderweg was started in 2004 with the path on the right side of the Rhine which is now part of theRheinsteig. In 2006 theKoblenztoBingenstretch was defined with the full path opening in 2010. It was also at this point awarded the "Qualitätsweg Wanderbares Deutschland". There are many places to eat along the way, not just in the towns along the way, but also a few isolated restaurants and taverns (Gaststätte) along the trail.
