national park along the Pembrokeshire coast in west Wales
About Pembrokeshire Coast National Park
Created in 1952, this is the only national park in the UK to primarily protect coastal landscapes. It follows most ofPembrokeshire's coast, and also has an inland section covering the Preseli Hills. The landscape is known for its rugged cliffs and many sandy beaches that can be viewed from the coastal path which runs along the coast for the entirety of the national park. Many of the offshore islands nearby have important colonies of seabirds that are resident for parts of the year, including gannets and puffins. Porpoise and seals are also frequently seen from the coastal path.
