About Peechi Vazhani Wildlife Sanctuary
The Sanctuary is one of the India’s most famous wildlife sanctuaries and has rich collections of flora and fauna. It is between the dams of two rivers - Peechi and Vazhni of Trichur. These attract a great variety of birds, reptiles and other animal. The major species include spotted deer, leopards, bison, sambar deer, wild dogs, kraits, turtles, bison and elephants. The sanctuary has tiger, barking deer, bonnet macaques, vipers, darters, little cormorants, and black eagles. The climate here in the sanctuary is mostly pleasant. During the months of November to January, the temperature of this region varies from 15°C to 20°C. However, during the months of March to April, the temperature rises to about 38°C.
