About Osasco
For a city with more than 650,000 inhabitants, the history of Osasco is quite recent. It emerged around the train station with the same name, constructed in 1895 and to this day the main train station of the city. Osasco was officially founded in 1962, when it was emancipated fromSão Paulo. In the second half of the 20th century, Osasco grew enormously with industrialization and the expansion of the urban area of São Paulo beyond the municipality limits. Despite its size, Osasco is not particularly interesting for non-business oriented visitors, although this may change in the future, with the recent and impressive economic growth of the city. Osasco is also carrying out an ambitious, long-term re-urbanization plan, which consists of remodelling its city center along the shores of the Tie
