About Mykines
Mykines is the westernmost of the 18 islands that make up the Faroe Islands. It stretches8km (5.0mi)from east to west, and is2–3km (1.2–1.9mi)at its widest from north to south. Mykines measures9.6km(3.7sqmi), but including the 86 islets and skerries, the area adds up to10.14km(3.92sqmi). Connected to Mykines by a 35-metre-long🌍footbridgeis Mykineshólmur in the west, home to many rock pillars and an automated lighthouse. The 50-metre-deep strait between Mykines and Mykineshólmur is called Holmgjógv.
