Malinska was an old fishing village and port for wood exportation until the beginning of the 20th century, when it started to develop into a tourism destination, initially as a favorite retreat of Viennese nobility. The name Malinska has its origins in the 15th century, and it is related to the water-mill that was built in the village and was important for the whole island ofKrk.
