About Kure Beach
Kure Beach (pronounced like "CURE-ee") is just south ofCarolina Beachand north ofBald Head Island. Its population of a little over 2,000 grows to more than 10,000 in the summer as beachgoers come to enjoy the waves. The town is named for the family of the Danish sea captain Hans Andersen Kure, some of whose descendants still live in the area.
