KLIA is located some 50 km (30mi) south of theMalaysiancapital city ofKuala Lumpurin theSepangdistrict ofSelangor. The airport opened in 1998 and supersededSultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airportin Subang, which is now only used for turboprop and charter flights. Low-cost carriers use a separateKLIA2terminal, which is connected to the "main" KLIA by train and shuttle buses.
