About Kevelaer
Kevelaer is a city located in the Cleves district of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is known as one of the largest pilgrimage sites in Northwestern Europe. Each year, over a million Christian pilgrims from Germany and the Netherlands visit this place to see the Virgin Mary at the Grace Church. According to legend, a poor merchant named Hendrik Busman heard the voice of the Virgin Mary on Christmas Eve in 1641, requesting him to build a church. He heard this request three times, and the church he built, known as the Grace Church, became the focal point of the pilgrimage site.
