About Keffi
Keffi is the capital of Nasarawa state. Keffi is 50 km from Abuja. Nasarawa State university is located in Keffi sitting along Keffi-Akwanga express way. It has an area of 138 km² and a population of about 93,000 in 2006. Keffi was founded about 1800 by Abdu Zanga (Abdullahi), a Fulani warrior from the north who made it the seat of a vassal emirate subject to the emir of Zaria (a town 153 miles [246 km] north). Although, these movement cannot be so traced with lucid certainty. But at about the rising of 19th century, during the era of the Fulani invasion, it was recorded that the northern axis of ten province was raided by the Fulani and Habe (now in present day Abuja). Hence; their settlement and dominance in the province.
