About Kazbegi National Park
In 1946, two small reserves were created in the then Kazbegi region of the Georgian SSR: Khevsky and Devdoraksky. Both these together made up theKazbegi Reserve, leading to the park's establishment in February 1976 to protect the alpine landscapes as well as its flora and fauna. It was initially a state nature reserve; however, in 2007, its status was upgraded into a national park.
