Japeri Travel Guide — Things to Do, Food & Hotels
municipality of Brazil
About Japeri
Japeri is a relatively new municipality of the metropolitan area of Rio de Janeiro. Until 1991, it was a district of the municipality ofNova Iguaçu, from which it was dismembered. Japeri is served by the Japeri (Central do Brasil-Japeri) and Paracambi (Japeri-Paracambi) railway lines - the latter being an extension of the former -, and has two suburban train stations in its territory: Engenheiro Pedreira station, which serves only the Japeri line, and Japeri station, which serves both the Japeri and Paracambi lines, connecting one to the other. These railway lines together have been the main vector of urban expansion of the metropolis towards the northwest, having reached Japeri, the penultimate municipality of this axis, and continued to Paracambi, where the urban expansion ended.
