Intestate 90 replaces US Hwy 10 from Seattle to Billings; follows US 87 between Billings and Buffalo, Wyoming; replaces US 14 & 16 between Buffalo and Tomah, Wisconsin; bypasses US 12 between Tomah and Portage; parallels US 51 from Portage to Rockford, Illinois. From South Beloit, Illinois to Boston, I-90 follows a series of toll highways (turnpikes) across the eastern half of the route. Namely along The Jane Addams Memorial Tollway (formerly Northwest Tollway), Chicago Skyway, Indiana Toll Road, Ohio Turnpike, New York State Thruway, and Massachusetts Turnpike which all predate the interstate highway system except in Pennsylvania where I-90 remains toll-free.
