About Igbesa
Igbesa is situated in Ado Odo/Ota Local Government Area,Ogun State,Nigeria. Igbesa, an Awori Kingdom was said to have been founded about 800 years ago by Akeredun, a hunter. He was the first to settle in Igbesa kingdom. He reportedly migrated from Isheri, being guided by a mysterious raffia mat, containing sacrificial items, which floated down from Isheri until it sank near the present site of the town. Folklore has it that Igbesa, as a name, originated from "egbe osa" (near the lagoon), which the first inhabitants used to describe their new home.
