About Gatineau Park
Gatineau Park is a361km(139sqmi)wedge of land extending north and west from the city of Gatineau. Most of the town ofChelseais in the park. The main entrance to the park is 4 km north of downtown Ottawa. It remains the only federal park that is not a national park. The National Capital Commission manages the park, not Parks Canada. The park's area has a long history of human inhabitation and usage predating the arrival of European settlers. Before it became a park, it was used for farming, logging, hunting, and industrial activity.
