Fiuggi Travel Guide — Things to Do, Food & Hotels

Italian comune

About Fiuggi

Fiuggi is effectively two cities. One is a typical medieval Italian hill town, at 2500 feet above sea level. The other, at a slightly lower elevation, is a 20th-century spa town, called FiuggiTerme(Baths). The water of Fiuggi Terme is bottled and distributed widely in Italy under the Fiuggi brand name. Fiuggi first became famous in the 14th century, when Pope Boniface VIII claimed his kidney stones had been healed by the waters but it was not until the 20th Century that it became fashionable to “take the waters”. The health benefits of many Government employees now include a trip to Fiuggi or a similar spa.
