The real name of the village was 'Iru-mooli-Parambu' but the locals started calling the place 'Farook College Town' once the college started functioning in 1948. Today the little village looks like a township with several colleges, schools and training organizations. In addition to Farook College, this township has an MBA college, one college of commerce and one teacher training college. The growth of the township happened because most of these colleges are residential and a large number of students and teachers live here. Today the word 'iru-mooli-parambu' orthe village of the humming wind, has disappeared in a new concrete forest with education as the sole aim.
