About Damyang
During the Joseon Dynasty, many pavilions were built to enjoy the landscapes, and poems and epics were written in the buildings. These activities were described aspungryu, which means literally "flow of wind." Jeong Cheol (1536–1594), a Korean poet and politician stayed and studied during his youth, and wrote his early epic,Seongsan Byeolgokin this town. The name "Damyang" was first used in the Goryeo Dynasty. When he reached Damyang, Dojo of "Shinjeungdonggukyeoji Seungram" changed its name to "Chuseong-gun" in Silla. In the 14th year of King Seongjong of Goryeo (995), Damyang was renamed to its current name and included in Naju. In the 1st year of King Fair (Jeongjong)'s accession (1398), it was promoted to Bu because it was the hometown of Queen Kim. In the 13th year of King Taejong (14
