About Curup
Curup is a landlocked area, surrounded by Bukit Barisan on almost all sides. This vast expanse is known locally asluak. Musi River also flow through theluak. The original inhabitants of this region are the Rejang (Tun Jang) tribe. As time goes by, people from other region came here. Immigrant races with significant populations are Javanese, Minangnese, Chinese, Serawainese, Lembaknese, Sundanese and various races from South Sumatra. This area is also known as the habitat of Rafflesia arnoldii.
