About Corozal (Puerto Rico)
Corozal is a town of 35,000 residents (2020) in the northern part of the mountainous region of the island along a geographical region often called the Karst country (or more geologically-accurate the Northern Karst). The northern part of the municipality is home to the characteristicmogotes(distinctive karstic hill formations) while the southern part is located in the Cordillera Central, the central mountain range of Puerto Rico. The town gets its name from the corozo palm tree (Acrocomia media) a species native to Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
