Brahmapur (previously known as Berhampur) (Oriya: ବ୍ରହ୍ମପୁର), and nicknamed"The Silk City", is a city on the eastern coastline of the state ofOdisha. It is the third-largest city in Odisha, with a population of 355,823 (with agglomeration the population of the city is around 800,000). The rural development NGO Gram Vikas is located 14km outside of Brahmapur, and hosts a number of international volunteers each year.
