About Bocaue
Bocaue and its neighboring towns form the large conurbation that surround Manila. It is27km (17mi)north of Manila, and18km (11mi)southeast of Malolos. Bocaue's name is derived from a Tagalog word for a species of long bamboo. Like Marilao, it was founded abarrioof Meycauayan, until it is made a town in 1606. Bocaue'spoblacion(downtown or town center) hosts a historic church dedicated to Saint Martin of Tours, which also hosts theMahal na Krus ng Wawa, a Catholic relic which is paraded through the Bocaue River which cuts through town
