Behshahr Travel Guide — Things to Do, Food & Hotels
city in Mazandaran Province, Iran
About Behshahr
Ashraff was a village of no distinction until it took the fancy of Shah Abbas I. He made it an imperial residence in 1613 and commissioned the construction of a palace and gardens. It declined in the 19th century due to internal disorder and attacks by the Turkmens, and the paladewas left in ruins. It enjoys the only good harbour on the southern side of the Caspian Sea.
