The main characters are high school student Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox), and an eccentric scientist, Dr. "Doc" Emmett L. Brown (Christopher Lloyd). In 1985, Doc builds a time machine from a DMC DeLorean. In the first film, Marty, by accident, travels back to 1955.
