About Assinie
Assinie sits on the mouth of the Aby Lagoon. Immediately across from the town there is a narrow peninsula calledLa Passe, filled with luxury villas and high-rise resorts. Touristy, yes, but they are lovely beaches. On the other side of Assinie, within the lagoon, it is more charming. There the houses are built of wood and straw and occupied by fishermen who live between the lagoon and the sea. Most of this area is part of the Îles Ehotilé National Park.
