About Andean Highlands (Ecuador)
The Ecuadorian Andes consists of two mountain ranges running in parallel north to south, theCordillera Occidentalin the west and theCordillera Centralin the east. Both ranges contain numerous tall volcanoes such as🌍Chimborazo(6,263m (20,548ft)),🌍Cotopaxi(5,897m (19,347ft)),🌍Cayambe(5,790m (19,000ft)), and🌍the Illinizas(5,245m (17,208ft)and5,126m (16,818ft)) which are popular targets for mountain climbers. In between them is the extensively settled and farmed central plateau that Alexander von Humboldt dubbed theAvenue of the Volcanoes. ThePan-American Highway, signed as E35 in Ecuador, runs the length of this corridor and connects its major cities.
