About Amityville

Set on the Atlantic Coast, Amityville has been a popular tourist place since the early 1900s. The famous British composer Benjamin Britten lived here from 1939 to 1942. However, it is perhaps best known as the setting for the novel, and subsequent films,The Amityville Horror, which was based on the 1974 murders that occurred in the town; though the scene itself tries hard not to be a tourist attraction for that reason alone.
