About Alsip
Alsip is bordered to the west by the villages of Worth and Palos Heights and bordered to the south by Crestwood. Oak Lawn lies to the north. Merrionette Park, Blue Island, and Robbins lie to the east. Chicago's Mount Greenwood neighborhood lies to the northeast. Most of the town is north of the Cal-Sag Channel. However, the Chippewa Ridge subdivision is southwest of the Cal-Sag. In conjunction with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources and the Water Reclamation District of Chicago, Alsip operates a boat launch on the Cal-Sag Channel, permitting inland access to Lake Michigan. In the 1830s, Alsip was settled by farmers of Dutch and German origin. The village was named after brickyard owner Frank Alsip; the Village of Alsip began to grow after the Tri-State Tollway was built there in
