borough of New Jersey

About Allentown (New Jersey)

Allentown was incorporated as a borough by an act of the New Jersey Legislature on January 29, 1889, from portions of Upper Freehold Township. The borough was named for William Allen, who served as Chief Justice of the Province of Pennsylvania. This tight-nit community is a great spot for its boutiques, restaurants, and historical sites. One of the oldest surviving mills in the state of New Jersey, the Allentown Mill, has been renovated inside to feature additional shops.
