village in Orleans County, New York, United States
About Albion (New York)
Albion has a nice sampling of well-preserved historic buildings and monuments for a town its size. In 1824, when Orleans County was split fromGenesee County, the tiny hamlets of Albion and nearby Gaines were the two candidates for county seat. But theErie Canal, which opened in 1825, routed through Albion, not Gaines, so Albion was chosen as the seat of the new county's government.
