This is one of the most populous cities in Ogun State. Most of its occupants are of Yoruba ethnic group. The main campus of Olabisi Onabanjo University one of the state owned institutions is located 7km west of the city. Ago-Iwoye's economy is primarily agricultural. Among the goods produced are yams, cassava, cocoyams, maize, melons, egusi, kolanuts, cocoa, palm oil, garri, bananas, and rice. The economy is solely groomed by students who reside in the town during academic calendar, whenever the school is out of session or on Academic Staff Union of Universities are on strike, this industrial action always affect the economy of this small town in Ogun state
