About Acheron Gorge
The Acheron is a 58-km-long river in northwestern Greece. It flows through the historical region of Epirus and is also a place of Greek mythology. The beautiful valley is one of the main scenic attractions on the west coast. In Greek mythology the Acheron is one of the five rivers of the underworld, into which the others,Styx,Kokytos,PhlegethonandLetheflow. Along with the Styx, it is considered to be the dead river, over which the ferrymanCharonbrought the dead souls toHadeswith his ferry.
