Acadiana or Cajun Country spreads over the prairies and bayous of SW Louisiana. Acadiana is a reference to the large population ofAcadians, descendants of French speakers expelled fromNova Scotiaby the British. These Louisiana Acadians are known as Cajuns, an English corruption ofAcadiens.
